Spooky Massachusetts by S.E. Schlosser

Spooky Massachusetts by S.E. Schlosser

"As I drove down the street paralleling the graveyard, I saw a strange light glowing among the tombstones. I stopped the car to take a look, and I saw a figure moving among the gravestones. She was walking slowly as if she bore a heavy weight and she was glowing from the inside..."

A young woman sees an evil spirit as she drives passed a local graveyard in Death Omen, one of 25 spooky stories in this collection of Massachusetts folklore by S.E. Schlosser. You will also read about the ghost of a missing bride who seeks vengeance against her killer; the ghost of a drowned sailor who helps a Nantucket sea captain spot whales; twin witches, who listen to the names of dead sailors called upon the wind; the black wizard of Springfield; the Salem witch trials; and many more spirits and supernatural happenings in Massachusetts. Great for reading around the campire, for Halloween, or anytime!

A graduate of the Institute of Children's Literature and Rutgers University, she also created and maintains the Web site AmericanFolklore.net, where she shares a wealth of stories from all fifty states, some dating back to the origins of America. She is also the author of Globe Pequot's Spooky Series.

About the Illustrator

His work graces books of many genres--children's titles, textbooks, short story collections, natural history volumes, and numerous cookbooks. For the Spooky series he employed a scratchboard technique and an active imagination.
